Dr. Gunn’s personal story of Chiropractic

I am a third generation chiropractor so have been fortunate to have grown up with chiropractic care my whole life and have been able to witness since a young age the amazing benefits it can bring into one’s life. I would say without hesitation that it is has been vital in me becoming who I am today.

When I was four years old I was able, and somewhat forced, to witness the great advantage it gives to take care of one’s body and make healthy choices. I was born with a kidney disorder that presented at age 4 and after many surgeries and testing left me on the list for a kidney transplant. On top of the surgeries I had during this time, I attribute chiropractic care and wise nutritional guidance to enable me to make a huge comeback, regain function of one of my kidney’s and not need a transplant. This forced me to listen to my body and watch constantly what I put into it.

Doctors told me that I would be limited in my life as to what I could do and the activities I could participate in. But as I got older and healthier I discovered that I was pretty talented athletically and my parents couldn’t keep me away from these sort of the activities. I had to compromise and agree not participate in certain contact sports and so my life began to focus on baseball, basketball, and cross country. Through these activities I was again able to discover the importance of chiropractic care and how much it made a difference in my performance. When I was tight, sore, or when I experienced certain injuries throughout my playing career it was through chiropractic care that I was able to become stronger and make a quicker recovery.

This all lead me to want to be a chiropractor. After I served a mission I worked in my father’s chiropractic clinic and was able to witness how much of a difference this type of care made in individuals lives. I was able to learn more about the philosophy and why it was so effective in improving people’s health and wellness. I was able to witness people hobble into the office and walk out with a hope in their eyes and literally have a change in their countenance from when they came in. I couldn’t help but want to be a part of this incredible science and art that has helped heal so many people naturally, as God has designed.

It is my mission as a Doctor of Chiropractic to share these same results with others. To show people the innate abilities the body has to take care of itself once we remove the interference on the nervous system and realign the body. I truly enjoy helping and serving others and couldn’t have picked a better profession that enables me to do this.
